Gary served in the military in Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho, April 26, 1962 - January 25, 1967. Gary served as a Sgt. in the US Air Force as a Surgical Technition in the 808th Medical Group. Gary recently retired from a full and long career with the USDA-Forrest Service where he worked on the trail crew, survey crew, timber crew, wildlife crew, fighting forest fires, reforestation, and recreation management.
